Vacancy Identification Number (VIN): T1718422 If selected for this position you will serve as a Staff Physician with the South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS), Victoria Outpatient Clinic, located in Victoria, Texas. You will provide comprehensive primary care for Veterans, fulfilling all primary care needs, including, but not limited to, acute and chronic illness, gender-specific primary care, mental health, and preventative care. When specialty care is needed, you will coordinate this care and communicate with the specialty provider regarding the evaluation and treatment plan to ensure continuity of care.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • You will be responsible for delivery of outpatient primary care to patients enrolled in STVHCS.

  • You and the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) will manage a panel of patients. The PACT Model is a patient-driven, team-based approach that delivers efficient, comprehensive and continuous care through active communication and coordination of healthcare services through an interdisciplinary team.

  • Alternative or collateral duties may include management of a subsection of primary care patients.

  • Physicians may be assigned duty as a supervising or collaborating physician for one or more mid-level providers. Physicians are expected to provide clinical oversight and review the care provided by mid-level practitioners.

  • Timely documentation is necessary in all areas in accordance with departmental policy.

  • You are responsible for complying with Medical Staff Bylaws.

Basic Requirements:

  • Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of a residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physical Requirements: pre-placement physical examination will be completed prior to appointment to determine the physical and mental fitness of candidates.
