F/A-18 Egress Technician Quality Assurance Inspector

Occupational Summary:

Performs all F/A-18 Organizational Level Quality Assurance functions for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (CNAF 4790.2), Maintenance Instruction Manuals, Technical Directives, and other governing directives as required. Performs NAMPSOP/GOP monitoring, audits, trend analysis, and drafts QA related naval messages. Notifies government oversight personnel of all flight critical, safety of flight, and mandatory QA inspections and performs accident analysis and investigations as directed by QA/Site Management.

Essential Job Functions:

Develops and implements quality control and ground safety programs to ensure compliance with contract specifications. Inspects and verifies proper completion and documentation of safety of flight discrepancies. Briefs and debriefs pilots and aircrew assigned to functional check flights. Evaluates personnel for maintenance qualifications, including verification of skills, training, and experience. Performs audits and inspections of work centers and ongoing maintenance actions, procedures, equipment, and facilities. Monitors timeliness and applicability of aircraft maintenance technical data and technical library. Reviews maintenance source documents, aircraft inspection records, and notes recurring discrepancies or trends and initiates appropriate action. Manages assigned quality programs in accordance with CNAFINST 4790.2 series and applicable company procedures. Reviews engineering investigation requests, initiates and reviews quality deficiency reports, technical deficiency reports, and hazardous material reports, ensuring they are accurate, clear, concise, and comprehensive. Receives aircraft and explosive mishap reports and studies them for applicability. Conducts safety inspections, training, and drills. Ensures good housekeeping and FOD prevention throughout all work spaces, reporting deficiencies to supervisory personnel for correction. Instruct and assist in training lower level employees in proper work methods and processes. Performs related duties as assigned by QA/Site Management. Must be able to work from blueprints, maintenance manuals, quality control procedures, quality instructions, contractor standard specifications, Naval inspection manual/cards and military technical directives.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Candidate experience must be clearly defined on resume by listing specific dates (month & year) and locations of relevant experience.

  • Must have completed USN/USMC QAR Course, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience within the past 15 years performing maintenance and repairs of high performance aircraft.

  • Minimum of 36 months experience as Aircraft Quality Assurance Representative in Naval Aviation; Active Duty, Civil Service, or Contractor with 24 months QAR experience on the F/A-18 aircraft within the past five years.

  • Minimum of 10 years F/A-18 Organizational Level maintenance experience, 36 months of which must have been within the past seven years. Must possess a work record and aptitude that demonstrates the capability to prepare and present both classroom and on-the-job maintenance training and technical briefings.

  • Must have completed F/A-18 C-School for Egress Technician and Related Systems.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, must possess a SECRET security clearance. High School graduate or equivalent. Must be able to work any shift.
