POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Physician. The LPN will assist the Physician with assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating care based on recognized national standards of practice.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.

  • Have basic mathematical skills.

  • Have basic computer skills and be able to function in or have the ability to learn Windows PC environment.

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn the EMR System.

  • Participate as part of a multi-disciplinary team, under the direction of a MD/Advanced Practitioner, (within the LPN scope of practice as defined by The Florida Nurse Practice Act) to provide patient care and to complete all physician orders, administer medications, treatments, tests, and other patient needs in a timely manner and communicates effectively with all members of the patient care team.

  • Collect data for the MD/Advanced Practitioner to be used in the care process to implement and evaluate safe, effective and age –appropriate patient care.

  • Demonstrate skills through appropriate decision making, delegation, and supervision of duties, and assists the provider by acting as a resource for staff and students.

  • Accurately, legibly, concisely, thoroughly and in a timely manner complete all necessary documentation, department logs and reports.

  • Be competent in the appropriate use and functioning of equipment in the area of clinical practice.

  • After an educational assessment is performed by the MD/Advanced Practitioner, the LPN will provide appropriate patient and family education based on the patient and family's psychological, emotional and cognitive understanding, and learning needs.

  • Participate in the department/hospital performance improvement program by conducting and monitoring patient care activities, preparing and submitting timely and accurate reports, proposing alternatives when problems are identified, evaluating the plan of care and following through on steps to problem resolution.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal, professional and clinical education as demonstrated through continuing education programs, participation in committees, maintaining competencies and review of current professional literature.

  • Follow standard precautions and appropriate use of personal protective equipment.

  • Recognize the influence of beliefs and cultures on behaviors and accept strengths and limitations in others.

  • Exhibit adaptability, flexibility, self-control and maturity in work and behavior.

  • Exhibit calm responsiveness to emergency or stressful situations.

  • Recognize situations which require notification of a supervisor.

  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

  • Write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

  • Effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards.

  • Complete assignments with promptness and accuracy.

  • Meet deadlines for all tasks assigned.

  • Prioritize work assignments and complete tasks in a timely fashion.

  • Be an active contributor in all customer service initiatives.

  • Be proactive in providing hospitality to all BocaCare/BRRH's patients, families, visitors, employees and physicians.

  • Serve as an ambassador for BocaCare/BRRH.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduate of accredited School of Practical Nursing or Vocational Nursing

Licensure/Regulation/Certification:

  • Current Florida License as a Licensed Practical Nurse

AND

  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites.

The person in this location will work in a smoke-free location, and is expected to adhere to all smoking restrictions.
