PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Our team has the mission to design and develop a massively scalable, multi-tenant aware and extremely fast data management engine (SAP HANA Vora) that will be a substantial part of the SAP Big Data Hub. We have a variety of interesting development topics like distribution, in-memory engine, disk engine, text engine, document store, graph store, pipeline engine etc.
In the development process we make use of the Hadoop eco system and integrate into Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark and other components.
We are looking for fresh graduates to bring their budding talents to the SAP HANA Vora team.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
As an associate developer in the SAP HANA Vora team you will be working with a group of exceptionally talented and motivated colleagues.
You will need to:
Identify relevant technology trends and drive education in related domains
Write meticulous software implementations throughout the whole software stack
Perform code reviews and audits to spot opportunities for improvements with respect to usability, testability, supportability, or potential performance penalties
Write regression tests for your own code using different programming languages (e.g. C , Python, SQL) and testing frameworks (e.g. Google C Testing Framework)
Continually enhance your existing skills and seek new areas for personal development
Be a strong, committed, reliable team player with a strong service ethic; as well as being a proactive networker, a self-starter and self-motivated.
Your tasks will include developing new concepts in the following areas:
Low latency networking
Time critical protocols
Fault tolerance and security
Query execution via Spark
Block Placement Strategies in HDFS
Resource Management in Yarn
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Very good Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields
A solid foundation in computer science with strong competencies in data structure, algorithms, and software design
Expert skills in one ore more of the following languages: C , Java, Scala, Python, R, Lua, Go
A high level of commitment, team-spirit, flexibility, and initiative
Knowledge of parallel, distributed algorithms
Knowledge of scripting language (for example in Python, Java script)
A solid understanding of one or more of the following areas: Hadoop, Spark, HDFS, Hive, Yarn, Flume, Storm, Kafka, ActiveMQ, Sqoop, MapReduce
Knowledge in cloud scale distributed systems
Experience with NoSQL Databases and Technologies like Cassandra, MongoDB, Graph Databases
Knowledge in design patterns and object oriented programming
