The SAP HANA team develops a platform that performs parallel in-memory processing of huge data sets to offer extremely fast real-time responses for analytic queries. The platform also provides libraries for predictive, planning, text processing, spatial, and business analytics – all on the same architecture. You are interested in optimizing software? As part of the HANA team, you deal with business critical customer scenarios in order to evaluate and optimize existing features and new innovations. You conduct technical analysis and handle internal and external communication. You provide feedback to our customers!

Topics include:

  • Customer facing The HANA Customer Scenario Optimizing team is in contact with customers in order to understand complex customer scenarios and help customers to provide their SAP HANA workload and data to SAP premises or the SAP HANA Capture & Replay Cloud Service

  • HANA Customer scenario: evaluation & optimization Expect to integrate SAP HANA customer scenarios into the SAP HANA CI infrastructure

  • HANA Customer scenario: Innovation testing

Expect to optimize and rewrite SAP HANA customer scenarios in order to make use of new innovations

  • SAP HANA Cloud Service

Work as part of the team, which operates the HANA Cloud Service for customer scenarios and continuously seek for optimizations

In your daily work you can expect to…

  • Analyze complex database problems coming from complex customers scenarios and new SAP internal stakeholders related to database engine and SAP HANA platform

  • Create function test, performance tests, scalability tests et al for complex customer scenarios

  • Align customer requirements based on customer scenarios in close collaboration with SAP HANA development

  • Analyze feature completeness, performance and scalability of the SAP HANA database

  • Communicate issues to stakeholders and HANA development

  • Continuously improve supportability features and documentation


Required skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong LINUX skills

  • Familiar with debugging and analyzing complex database related problems

  • Good knowledge of SQL

  • Good knowledge of general database architecture

  • Basic knowledge of one of the following programming languages:

  • Python/Shell-Scripting

  • C/C

  • Ability to work well in global teams across different time-zones

  • Good communication skills

  • Verbal and written working proficiency in fluent English and fluent German

  • Basic understanding of customer IT processes

Optional skills

  • Using C -Debuggers (like GDB) or profiling tools

  • Knowledge in Git, Gerrit, Jenkins

  • Knowledge of SAP Applications (e.g. BW, S/4 HANA)

  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Software Testing
