XSA Technology delivers the next generation application server infrastructure for SAP HANA - on the one hand on premise as integral part of the SAP HANA installation, on the other hand as a central contribution to SAP’s Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering in SAP HANA Cloud Platform. Both appliances of XSA offer a Cloud Foundry based application development platform experience, enriched with tools and services to integrate with and extend SAP’s various business applications.


You will join a young and diverse team dealing with programming and integrating a full application server stack and its tools. You will get the chance to work on all kind of software layers from operating system level layer up to designing application programming models. You will control and operate your development infrastructure on command line level and write code using state-of-the-art programming languages like Java, JavaScript and/or C . You will apply open standards like Cloud Foundry, OData, REST and SSL.

Methodology wise you will make use of scrum, TDD and further agile software engineering methods to create industry-ready, high quality core technology components in an environment, where productively usable deliverables are expected with each iteration. You have the chance to interact with customers and stakeholders to acquire early feedback on your deliverables and get the opportunity to enhance your software engineering skills and drive your personal development.


Required skills

  • Very good Doctoral, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related fields

  • Very strong foundation in computer science with very strong competencies in operating systems, data structures, algorithms and software design

  • Deep and advanced knowledge in at least two state-of-the-art programming languages like Java, C/C , Ruby, Go, Scala, JavaScript, etc.

  • Proficiency working with Unix / Linux environments.

  • Knowledge and experience in using and contributing to open-source products & processes.

  • Curiosity and track record to understand and learn new technologies, concepts and tools.

  • Goal-oriented team worker with excellent communication skills embracing agile programming practices.

  • Fluency in German and English.

Preferred skills

  • Strongly convinced of and extended experience with Test-Driven-Development, continuous integration & delivery, committer/contributor model and pair programming, knowledge in using Git.

  • Familiarity or experience with Cloud Foundry and/or OpenStack


  • 2 years of experience in professional software development.

  • Working experience in international projects
