PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The position is located in the Field Finance area of SAP Germany. Field Finance acts as business partner and supports the Field/Business (Software Sales and Consulting) in many aspects concerning financial and accounting advice. Together with the other Commercial functions (legal, contracting, order handling) Revenue Recognition supports sales in structuring compliant deals.
We assure compliant financial statements.
The Revenue Recognition compliance focus is defined in the IFRS and US-GAAP standards and further detailed and focused on the SAP business in SAP specific accounting guidelines. Therefore, Revenue Recognition experts are highly valued within SAP and this experience is a great asset for their entire careers. The Revenue Recognition team reports into the Commercial Director of SAP Germany but there is also a close collaboration with the Corporate Financial Reporting Team that is responsible for the Revenue Recognition Guideline. The main responsibilities entail direct interaction with the Software Sales organization to provide deal support, which includes advice and counsel on various Revenue Recognition topics. Some additional duties include the review of contract bookings and posting of deferrals during the monthly closing process as required for SAP’s SOX controls as well as supporting the performance of so called VSOE tests.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
You provide proactive advice to the business on revenue recognition topics and you engage in deal structuring
You determine correct accounting of deal structures
You actively communicate and collaborate with the business
You help roll out Revenue Recognition related topics into the business and provide appropriate knowledge transfer throughout the business
You contribute to and align with the regional and global Revenue Recognition community.
You contribute to projects with Revenue Recognition implications
You Engage in SOX control activity
You Support VSOE Testing function
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
University degree in business administration or law with special focus in finance, preferably Accounting and/or auditing and/or contract law.
You provide an assertive and persuasive personality
You have fun with consulting and supporting others and you prefer open and direct communication
You have a proper understanding of IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP accounting rules.
You support a very high level of customer orientation – to internal and external customers
You have strong communication skills and ability to interact with multiple stakeholders (business, auditors, Rev Rec community etc.)
You have very good German and English language skills
- Experience in revenue recognition, especially in the software industry, is preferable
You have Ideally 4 years professional experience in the finance area preferably in accounting/financial reporting or legal. Experience in revenue recognition in the software industry or in an audit firm is an asset.
