SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Project Controls Manager is responsible for implementing the tools, systems and work processes to effectively manage control and report on cost, schedule and progress measurement for the project portfolio.
•Supports the intake process of projects through the governance process.
•Updating and maintaining project schedules in accordance with approved work plans, long-term strategic plans and other schedule and plan tools
•Planning, cost control, work measurement and collection of performance data such as installed quantities, expended labor and other progress measurement data.
•Works independently on complex project risk assessment issues, manage conflict, and provide resolution using a combination of technical skills, leadership, teamwork and people management skills.
•Partners closely with business partners to analyze new projects and readiness for governance decisions and provides transparency of portfolio investments.
•Build strong relationships within Amtrak to understand the business challenges and opportunities.
•Create a collaborative partnership among executive leaders and portfolio stakeholders and enables resource demand planning, change management, and project pipeline planning decisions.
•Support the creation of project management best practices, tools, and ways for Amtrak to drive efficiency in order to reduce costs and add value.
•Adheres to Amtrak Enterprise Project Management methodology.
•Demonstrated project controls & schedule skills (schedule management, schedule reporting)
•Strong project management skills
•Strong focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service
•Effectiveness working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives.
•Familiarity with project controls tools and work processes.
•Experience with Project Controls management relating to cost, scheduling and estimating at a project level. Ability to organize and present project portfolio reports, proposals, and other related portfolio information
•Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project), MS Project and Primavera
•Demonstrated practitioner experience with project controls and project management.
PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
•Knowledge of contracts and contract administration including its assessment and implementation at each phase of the project.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
•Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
