Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, as the Head of Data Warehouse Services are to:

• Drive the strategic development and daily operations for the clinical data warehouse; • Ensure appropriate data warehouse design models are developed and implemented; Ability to depict processes and workflows in a data warehouse and automate them; • Develop relationships and co-ordinate activities with other pharmaceutical companies using clinical data warehousing technologies and models, specifically Oracle Life Science Data Hub (LSH) to share knowledge and bring external perspectives into Bayer; • Responsible to ensure provision of utilities within the data warehouse, interfaces between the data warehouse and other systems, and set up of Load sets and Export, as well as data access; Familiarity with API technologies bridging various technologies through adaptors, e.g., connecting with data acquisition systems (EDC systems), and data visualization systems to make data stored in the warehouse available for use by other tools; • Give direction and ensure appropriate support within the data warehouse for future "Big Data" and advanced analytical needs for Bayer; • Manage a team of Data Warehouse Specialists to deliver the services required from the data warehouse group; • Ensure the creation of Data Marts and Views for customers and functions ; ensure proper interactions with customers and develop solutions to meet immediate and long-term needs of business customers; • Provide data transformation/data aggregation expertise & specialist application related technical services for clinical information environment systems; • Responsible for data warehouse security model; • Ensure adequate monitoring of system performance and integrity from user perspective, and report any deficiencies to technical colleagues. Work with technical colleagues on identification and implementation of corrective and preventative actions, as required; •Coordinate activities with BBS/External infrastructure vendors and users to ensure continuation of service and user support services.

• Bachelor’s degree in related field with data warehouse adaptor and utility architecture experience; • 5+ years of data warehouse technical system experience. • 2+ years’ experience in leading/managing a function or leading/managing large project teams; • Experienced with oversight of sourcing solutions that involve a workforce which consists of internal employees, external workforce and consultants; • Technical knowledge and understanding about Clinical Data Warehouses; • Deep knowledge in Oracles database technology; • Solid understanding of business requirements documentation and build for customers; • Strong communication skills; • Experience in Quality Assurance measures; • Ability to embrace change and focus on continuous improvement.


• MS in Informatics field; • Previous experience in Oracle Life Sciences Data Hub (LSH), including advanced knowledge of core functionality of LSH, and familiarity with LSH best practices.

Position can be located in Whippany, NJ; Berlin, Germany; or Newberry, UK.
