Your tasks and responsibilities
The Primary Responsibilities of this role, Deputy Director Advanced Analytics, are: • Responsible for key aspects along the analytics cycle, from definition of business questions and hypotheses, to data sourcing and preparation, model development, and insight generation; • Output of these analyses will be the basis for strategic resource allocation by Strategic Marketing leadership, particularly for Integrated Multi Channel Marketing (IMCM) topics; • The individual is expected to collaborate closely, advise, and support Commercial Analytics & Insights team management and Strategic Marketing leadership in various types of advanced quantitative analyses, including regression-based ROI analysis, promotion optimization, conjoint analysis, etc.; • The incumbent also needs to manage onshore and offshore resources, as well as in-house and external consultants.
Major tasks and responsibilities of position: • The primary responsibility of this role is to provide Senior Commercial Management with measurable insights into commercial strategies and tactics. These insights will provide a competitive advantage to management by making better business decisions derived through application of statistical techniques and mathematical tools; • Development of analytical programs, including business question development, hypothesis generation, and scoping (timelines, work effort estimation, resourcing, etc.); • Data sourcing, preparation, integration and quality control; alignment on market definitions; • Collaboration with internal business partners to provide marketing program business case evaluation and appropriate measurement; • Creation of analytical models and visualization of data and outcomes, e.g. promotional response, marketing mix, sales force effectiveness, rebate analyses – and synthesis of critical insights from these models and visualizations • Evaluation of global commercial experiments and pilots, including KPI development/ tracking and ROI measurement, to determine success; • Demonstration of thought leadership and content expertise in advanced analytics to business partners and major markets, including development of key training programs; • Management of third parties retained to support data management, analytics, research, and consulting efforts, such as onshore and offshore resources.

More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: • Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree (Master’s/Ph.D.) in quantitative field (Statistics, Management Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Finance, etc.); MBA from globally leading school is a plus; • 6+ years of commercial healthcare analytics work experience, of which 3+ years of recent experience in pharmaceutical industry or health care consulting. 3+ years of experience incorporating several of the following: Project management, marketing mix optimization, promotional response and price modeling, sales force sizing and structure, forecasting, simulation, and/or decision analysis; • Proven track record of professional success in analytics role; • Proven team and project leadership skills, experience in managing integrated cross-department initiatives; • Strong analytical/quantitative skills with the ability to understand the big picture; • Ability to manage undefined scopes and put structure into large-scale ambiguity; • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy to plan, organize and implement multiple projects within time, budget and capacity constraints; • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to regularly create and present to senior management concise executive summaries, structured syntheses of insights and business recommendations; • Expertise with relevant pharmaceutical data sources including sales data sources such as IMS, Cegedim, etc.; • Experience in handling and analyzing both traditional data (e.g., patient longitudinal, claims data, distribution, sales, demand, units, promotion) and digital data (web, mobile, e-mail, etc.); • Willingness and ability to travel as needed, up to 25%.
