Accredited by The Joint Commission, the Whiteriver PHS Indian Health Hospital is a 40-bed hospital and provides ambulatory and inpatient services for 17,000 White Mountain Apache Tribal Members and 4,000 Native Americans living in the surrounding areas. The Cibecue Health Center, located 50 miles southwest of Whiteriver, provides outpatient, urgent care, dental, and community health service to 1,800 residents of Cibecue and Carrizo.

Two (2) permanent full-time Custodial Worker Supervisor (Foreman) positions to be filled in the Housekeeping Department at the Whiteriver Service Unit (WRSU) in Whiteriver, Arizona. The Incumbent will exercise supervisory responsibility for control operations in the Housekeeping Department and will be supervised by the Supervisor, Housekeeping Department, WRSU.

An appointment to this position is restricted by law (5 U.S.C. 3310) to veterans who are preference eligible as long as such applicants are available.

  • Exercises supervisory responsibilities over work operations and delegates work assignments to approximately 26 subordinate workers.
  • Plans and prepares employee work schedules.
  • Establishes and implements operational standards and procedures for these subordinate workers.
  • Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the facility to determine the type of work required.
  • Coordinates activities with other departments to ensure services are provided efficiently and timely.
  • Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work assignments.
  • Inspects completed work to ensure that it meets established standards and specifications.
  • Maintains records of work hours, budget, and other department information.
  • Investigates complaints about service and equipment and takes corrective action.
  • Confers with staff to resolve performance and personnel problems.

A two-year trial period may be required upon selection/placement.

A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
