Marketing develops and deploys customized marketing plans and campaigns designed to attract new customers, deepen engagement with existing customers, develop award winning products, and deliver an exceptional customer experience for our Cobranded credit card, Branded card, and deposits programs. Marketing cuts across multiple disciplines in digital, insights, creative, communications, direct mail, call center, and face to face activities to deliver a seamless multi-channel approach to meeting business goals and objectives.
Overall purpose of role
In addition to serving as an advocate and evangelist for the social marketing channel within BCUS, the Social Media Marketing Lead’s primary function will be to develop and execute social campaigns & content in-line with Barclaycard’s co-brand products’ business objectives and our partner brands’ needs. They will serve as a channel SME to position BCUS as an ideal partner for current & prospective Partnerships. Extensive collaboration with key internal stakeholders: Partnership, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, etc. required.
o Serve as the social media channel primary point of contact for Partnership leads
o Overall management of the execution of social campaigns and content development
o Establish upfront campaign metrics/goals and report on actuals after completion of activity
o Extensive collaboration with key internal stakeholders on creative approvals including Marketing, Partnership, Compliance and Legal as needed
o Interaction with participating partner contacts on creative approvals. Enforcement of set timelines to ensure timely and accurate execution of materials
o Perform on-going social listening and reporting findings back to the business on a regular cadence
o Oversight of accurate and timely set up of web, text and any other digital response channels in support of overall marketing efforts
o Supplier Manager for the Marden Kane vendor relationship (Marden Kane is the BCUS approved sweepstakes vendor)
o Responsible for channel budgeting for team, invoice tracking and payment
o Serve as back up support for Brand/Branded Products & ECM Social strategy leads, as well as for Social Care
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
This role is expected to work closely across the different Partnership product leads to assess product objectives (short and long term), devise an approved strategy against those needs, and see that through to execution and reporting. This will require the ability to influence and continually demonstrate the value of the channel and effort needed. This role is viewed as a key contributor to the continued growth of the social media marketing channel.
Decision-making and Problem Solving
Proven history of demonstrating autonomous program management, which includes the use of sound judgement and rationale development needed as a part of all marketing efforts. Problem solving creativity is key as a large part of being able to develop strategies to address business needs. The role requires having a point of view (on creative, tactical execution, etc.), while flexible and confident enough to move in an entirely different direction. Lastly, the ideal candidate needs to embrace the art of the possible, for both within the ever-changing landscape of the social media space, but also as a steward of BCUS, ensuring that we are always doing what’s right for our cardmembers, regardless of the effort needed.
Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
o 7 years general advertising/marketing and financial service experience required
o Ability to travel occasionally, as required
o Proficient in Microsoft Office
o Experience managing marketing campaigns across the different social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
o Experience managing creative agencies and evaluating winning concepts and selecting media placements
o Experience with social publishing and listening platforms (Sprinklr & Crimson Hexagon)
o Polished sales skills to act as an influencer with partners and external clients as well as internal colleagues
o Broad understanding of the credit card industry and the social media channel and their respective challenges
o Extreme attention to detail
o Excellent organizational skills
o Analytics based decision making
o Ability to multi-task and work well with vendors, partners, other bank colleagues (Legal, Mktg Ops)
