Responsible for the maintenance, daily samples, reporting, and operation of waste water treatment facility.


  • Maintain and control, quality, safe operation of defined parameters within specified limits, and required daily reporting of systems at waste water treatment plant.

  • Systematically checking and verifying that treatment progresses as designed/mandated.

  • Maintain correct spray cycles and rotation.

  • Ensure daily samples are taken and recorded.

  • Ensure all records are kept in a manner that accurately reflects the operation of the plant.

  • Install, maintain and repair equipment used in operation of waste water treatment including but not limited to: pumps, blowers, piping, valves, meters, recorders.

  • Grounds maintenance, including mowing and weed eating with power equipment.

  • Assist with the plumbing department as needs and opportunities arise.

  • Adhere to proper PPE and LOTO requirements.

  • Practice and promote proper hygiene.

  • Ensure the inspection and safe operation of power tools, ladders and equipment.

  • Provide safe, tidy user-friendly work areas.

  • Work in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Provide fluent and consistent communication with management and corresponding departments.

  • Withstand pressure under potentially stressful or critical conditions.

  • Report and/or eliminate all unsafe conditions, injuries and damaged equipment to the appropriate department(s).

  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and 6 day work weeks when needed.

  • Operate within and frequently review the policies and procedures of Darien Lake and corresponding department.



  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Strong understanding of science, biology/chemistry.

  • Minimum 1-year experience in maintenance related position.

  • Must be fit tested and orientated to safe confine space procedures.

  • Valid New York State Driver’s License.

  • Possess strong administrative skills including organization and documentation.

  • Possess positive and productive leadership skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage daily assigned tasks incorporating preventative maintenance practices.

  • Must be able to sit and/stand/and walk for long periods of time throughout the day

  • Must be able to work outdoors at various times throughout the year

  • Requires manual and bi-manual dexterity as well as fine and gross motor skills, hand/eye coordination, near vision, hearing and speech

  • Must possess “normal” or “average” corrected hearing. (Defined as 25 decibels or better in the frequency range of 500HZ-4000HZ considered normal speech frequency range). If corrective device is worn, it must be worn while on duty.

  • Must possess 20/20 corrected vision. Corrective lens, if required, must be worn while on duty.

  • Requires occasional kneeling and bending

  • Requires occasional walking, reaching above shoulder, pushing and pulling

  • Requires occasional lifts and carries up to 50 pounds

  • If prosthesis is needed to meet these requirements, it must be used while on duty

  • Requires occasional carries up to 100 pounds with the assistance of a two wheel hand truck

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. This position requires occasional work in or around wetness, confined spaces-cramped quarters, heights, noise, detergents/chemicals, mechanical hazards, moving objects, fumes/odors, dust, mists, gases, or vibrations. The noise level is generally moderate to high.
